This raffle has some wonderful prizes and we would be so grateful for this post to be shared, fundraising for our Brixham-based theatre work.
The top prize is a long weekend holiday in Brixham for up to 8 people (donated by Allie & Nick of TThe Naked Sheep Hayle, as well as a £25 voucher for sea safaris or makerel fishing donated by MMR FISH a voucher for the amazing local family-owned cafe CCrafty Cwtch a lovely book by local pirate celebrity CCpt'n Blackheart o' Brixham and tickets for a local performance of our show.
ENTERING THE RAFFLE:
Tickets are £2 each & can be purchased from the Crafty Cwtch cafe (66 Middle Street, Brixham, TQ5 8EJ) April 2nd to May 4th 11am.
Or, you will also be able to buy from us directly, from the South Devon Players fundraising stall during TThe Brixham Pirate Festival on May 2nd - May 4th 11am, on Middle Street.
The draw will take place at the South Devon Players festival stall on Monday May 4th at 12 midday. The draw will be filmed in full, & uploaded to our facebook/ tiktok/instagram by 2pm. Any winners not present at the draw will be contacted by 6pm & prizes not collected in person will be posted via registered mail.

As part of our 20th anniversary, we have our London show debut this summer, and are fundraising for the show to be the best it can be, showcasing the incredible local theatre talent. Every penny raised goes into things like the minibus hire, rehearsal hall hire, costumes/props, etc.

Of course, more shows will be added as time goes on. Vomo is a female-run powerhouse of diverse creativity, that we are delighted to partner with.
Our upcoming shows (usually as filmed at Brixham Theatre) will be added a few weeks after the finish of the live on stage tours.

On Wednesday our incredible costume team have been designing some of the costumes.
Our theatre production of The Scarlet Pimpernel with 14 cast, requires around 50 costumes to be made to reproduce the clothing styles of the 1790s both in England and over in the midst of the French Revolution.
How are we managing this?

In our usual tradition of both being eco friendly and managing our large period dramas on microscopic budgets, the vast majority of our fabrics, lace ribbon etc, are from second hand sources. Curtains, sheets, upholstery fabric, tablecloths, all found via charity shops and jumble sales, to be remade into these (and other) stunning outfits by Bethany, Carol and Margot.

This is the first design day of several, so our costume team were very busy before the cast arrived for evening rehearsals

It is a busy week behind the scenes, and also an emotional one, as one show is put away, and another prepared for. We are casting The Scarlet Pimpernel this coming weekend (if you want to audition, pop over to our Auditions section for all the info) . It is also sad as some of the cast move on to other things, and some are coming over to the next one, but then, we will also be welcoming other amazing faces this weekend. 

Every single one of the team has been beyond professional, lovely to work with and absolutely divine - it’s been a divine run.
We are going to miss those not doing The Scarlet Pimpernel like absolute hell but friends forever and the door is always open to anything in the future -  and for those coming back for The Scarlet Pimpernel, this week cant go fast enough til we work together again.
Love this lot more than words can ever say. What a team! And finishing the run with a full house and awesome feedback, glorious.

Thank you to everyone who came, and it was brillant to have a well known, well-connected international acting agent whom we are good friends with and some of our team are signed to, come to see everyones work amd scout our amazing new faces, whom she was most complimentary about.
Some of our team have a few individual freelance gigs before Christmas, and we have some fundraising market stalls still to go, but overall SDP is now on Christmas break from shows and rehearsals until the new year when we will be back to Budleigh Salterton Public Hall and Stokenham Village Hall with Jekyll & Hyde and then casting for The Scarlet Pimpernel.
We will continue to be fully active online as there is lots still to share with you, and to get ready for our 20th anniversary year and London debut.
Well done to all of our amazing team this year and a huge thank you to all the lovely audiences who have supported us through 2025 <3

It was especially lovely that we welcomed several students to the audience who are studying the text for GCSE, coming to see our show to support their studies.
Audience feedback, as reported by our two amazing ticket ladies Emily and Sue, was excellent .
We now have a two week break before the next show in Exeter with lots of work going into prep for the next Jekyll & Hyde performances and also behindthe scenes work for our 20th anniversary and London debut show The Scarlet Pimpenel casting in January.

Brixham Library, the Crafty Cwtch cafe & Brixham Town Council all act as collection points for us here in Brixham - and if you are in Cornwall our friends at The Naked Sheep Hayle also act as a collection point, just drop them a line! It doesnt matter where the stamps are from (including common UK ones), or how old, they are all equally extremely useful and appreciated.
Things like this really make it possible to keep doing what we do, albeit on a brutal shoestring, namely:
- bringing classical literature, and history to life in touring shows suitable for all ages
- creating opportunities for local people to launch or further careers in the creative industries
- supporting other arts and creative ventures when possible in Torbay
- being the living proof that people of all identities, backgrounds, and experience levels, can collaborate and achieve world class excellence in theatre and creativity.
- demonstrating best practice in inclusion and ethical production methods on a national scale
- streaming our work around the world.
- and having an amazing time doing it!!!
