Editing for our film Mordred, telling the story of King Arthurs illegitimate son, based on early legends, continues. Its taking a long while as it is happening around everyones day jobs etc. But in the meantime, we have some new stills from footage filmed by the team in Cornwall at Pengersick Castle...

A new "take" on showteam shows was trialled on Thursday. Some years back we had our Three Musketeers showteam, which is still something which can be resurrected. But in the meantime through a series of events - an afternoon of impromptu fight show between Laura and Anth, back in the summer, and then the fact that a number of our performers are Assassins Creed fans, the natural thing happened. And the Assassins Creed-theme showteam was born, we decided to put together a fight show for the final Brixham Buccaneers Pirate Thursdays. This is a charity, volunteer-run annual series of family friendly events - mainly pirate, but they often want different entertainment, and we work with them a lot. Lucius, Steve, Ray, Laura and Rich created the final performance. It went so well than we have been asked back for the Pirate Thursdays next summer! A busy weekend of external jobs is now past, with great feedback. On Friday evening, Steve, Lucius, Laura and Rhia were booked to be the in-character entertainers at a medieval banquet for Hatherleigh Primary School raising funds for their woodland area. So, Lord and Lady Bloodraven, along side Lord Redvers man at arms and Lady Eleanor Belstone (yes, using all local names!) alongside some other actors created a rolling drama of a stolen jewel, a drunken Jester who took religion after some time spent in the stocks. Unusually for us, this was not a strict historical period, and more generic in its medieval theme, so we had a lot more latitude than we normally allow ourselves! Feedback from one of the organisers who booked us: "Thank you sooo much one and all. Well all of the guests adored "the actors". I do feel without you all there, it would not have been a success" Then, on Saturday, we had our second engagement, six of our lovely team booked as 1960s hippies, for the Ageing Well 2017 festival at Lupton House near Brixham . A great day of handing out flowers to people arriving, filling the front of the house with bubbles, dancing, and welcoming the event guests. Again, great feedback from the organizers "You really made me feel I was back in the 60s thank you so much for your hard work on the day. I could feel the love in the air" The Three Musketeers is an action packed, family pantomime, touring in Jan 2018. Based on the classic swashbuckling novel by Alexandre Dumas, this panto tells this classical tale set in the 17th Century French royal court, and how a young man from the country joins the royal guards, while foiling a plot to depose the King, with plenty of laughter, dance, song, - and epic sword fights from our trained fight team.

There are honestly too many people to name and tag and thank, in one social media post, who have been involved in this and contributed to make things happen - and without any of them, the film would not have happened. We still have to go through IMDb and our credits list to make sure everyone is credited on there. Production completed last weekend with a wonderful two day shoot, for the completion filming for the Battle of Camlann, with the assistance of amazing re-enactment group Warriors Of Tintagel Now, the film moves into post production. Michael, our editor, is cutting the film together, as with everyone else, working on the film around his day job and other commitments. One stage of this incredible journey is over, more yet to come with the editing and release of the film. What an amazing team, and what a wonderful journey to be on. :) (photos below from filming The Battle of Camlann last weekend)

Polmartin Riding Stables, near Bodmin in Cornwall, often runs one-day intensive, affordable, courses for actors, in riding for film and TV. Our team attended yesterday, and had a great photoshoot as well as training. Check out Polmartin at http://www.polmartinfarm.com/
As those who follow our work will know, we are all about pushing our actors to achieve excellence in their performances, towards all creating professional performances, and breaking out of the stereotype that all local theatre and film projects must be "amdram" and that regional people may be "unskilled" - so we provide as much training as we can, and also let our team know about other training opportunities that come up, allowing our lovely people to expand skills so that there are a wide range of skills and abilites that they have both for projects with us, for later if registered with our casting agency, and for going out and finding performance work on other productions regionally or nationally.
Yesterday those of our team who were able, attended a day course "Riding for Film and Television" at the fantastic Polmartin Riding Stables, in Cornwall (highly recommended if you wish to learn or practice your riding, run by people who do a lot of horse work for films). Laura, Sharon, and Megan attended, and more of our team hope to attend similar courses in future. These are suitable for beginner and experienced riders, so absolutely brilliant. All the preparations for the Murder Mystery At The Cabaret theatre show are going great! Costuming, nitpicking at dance choreography, all the last jobs are underway for the show now -
Have you got your tickets yet? Combining a lively, and fun, family friendly, cabaret show, with a murder mystery, this show combines two genres to something new - and a lively night out for all! You can book online on our Box Office page, or ring Laura on 07855 090589 to book. |
