New scriptwriters welcome
We would love to hear from anyone interested in collaborating with us as a scriptwriter. We would like to be able to showcase the scriptwriting skills of other Devon-based people, especially those who have never had work performed before.
We do have a quite tight brief, for new scripts, as they need to fit into the genres and styles of what we perform, but if you either have, or are working on something that fits, then please do get in touch. If your script is accepted, you will see it publicised online to several thousand people, performed in local theatres, with posters, promo photos, and more.
(Please, no "pirate" theme plays for now, please)

Script requirements
CAST SIZE: Around 10 cast, male and female. More are fine if roles can be doubled up. No more than one or two children.
GENRE: Historical / period drama / classical story adaptation, set from ancient to 1915. (Local South Devon history is welcome and encouraged) .
The history should be well researched, reflected in language and dialogue, (which will in turn be supported by costuming and set.) For example, as an extreme case, we were once sent a script in which a Victorian girl in the 1800s lost her IPod. That was rejected due to lack of historical accuracy!
LENGTH: should be around 2 hours.
ACTION: Stage combat and action is optional, but we have several actors, male and female, skilled in and who enjoy same.
MOOD: Powerful emotive, interesting, or action filled (or all of the above) storyline.
CHARACTERS: Well developed range of different characters.
SUITABILITY: While mention of "adult themes" is fine, we do not accept graphic sexual content, nudity, or innuendo, or extreme profanity.
The script should be something that would equate to a PG, or 12 at the maximum, rating.
TITLE: A clear title describing the production, so that people know what it likely to be about.
Examples of previous productions which fit with our theme
Les Miserables (as a non-musical version)
William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet
The Great Gale of Brixham 1866 (about a local sea-faring disaster)
The Ballad of Resurrection Bob (about a local smuggler who faked his own death to escape the law)
