The South Devon Players Supporters Trust: Mission Statement
About the Supporters:
We were set up in 2019, to assist the Players with their growth and development. Previously, it has been extremely challenging for the handful running the team to not only plan and stage productions, but also , in so doing, publicity, company management, fundraising, training, tech, direction, research, costuming, and the myriad of tasks that are needed to make a production happen. Fundraising traditionally has taken place with tables at jumble sales where possible, selling donated items saved by friends or in job lots from Freecycle. This of course has been something which had held back the development of what SDP could achieve, and which the Supporters Trust will now assist with. With more people able to assist with fundraising and support roles, the Players are able to continue their work more effectively. |
What the Trust supports:
- Rehearsal space - Costumes - Sets - Technical equipment - Printing posters and programmes to promote the shows. - Education & training - Emergency travel costs for actors on low income to allow them to participate. - Wages for actors and technical crew; increasing employment and aspirations for creative people in our area. - Enabling us to to expand our repertoire in future by being able to afford royalties to buy in scripts. |
How the Trust will achieve this outcome:
We are working on exploring both traditional and new innovative methods to fund and assist the South Devon Players. This involves (but is not limited to) seeking grant funding, and corporate sponsorship, in line with the ethics policies of the South Devon Players; and also promoting a public "Friends" scheme, running our fundraising book-stall at Brixham Market, creating beautiful handmade and "print on demand" exclusive merchandise, exploring sponsored events and other tabletop sales to raise funds. We also assist with finding volunteers who may not wish to work professionally, but who would like to volunteer some time to publicity, crafting, fundraising, increasing accessibility, etc. |
