Christmas Stories (spoken and BSL)
This project was kindly funded by Western Power Distribution, to create two childrens stories, available for free, online over Christmas 2020 (though we will be keeping these online as well) . In the interests of accessibility, the brief was to not only record spoken versions of the videos, but also to record the stories in BSL. For us, this was a great project to create work for three actors; two to verbally read the stories ,and one to transpose them into sign language. This is a completely new project for us, and the first time we have ever done anything like this.
After sudden changes in availability changed the original BSL signing casting lineups, we were fortunate to meet a very helpful lady on Facebook who dived in and took over on the signing side of things.
These stories are presented in three versions, a spoken-only version, a signed only version, and a combination of both. Additionally, the text for both stories can be downloaded. To view the stories full-screen, click on the embedded youtube links and expand them to fullscreen. Please note that due to the nessecity to record separately, the BSL interpretation is done at a different pace to the spoken versions, so the two languages are not in sync with one another on the combined videos.
