Research and information for ZORRO!
Open Auditions Sunday September 14th, 1pm, at Chestnut Community Centre
About the production
This is a new departure in panto. Yes, it is a seasonal pantomime, with a difference!
This is a project combining elements of traditional pantomime, with elements of Vegas shows. It is still family friendly, lively, glamorous, and hopefully will be an all new experience for everyone! Telling the swashbuckling tale of the Mexican outlaw Zorro, who has to outwit an evil witch, and a rather henpecked evil landowner, who wants to steal the ancient Aztec gold. This show may not be suitable for people with medical issues affected by bright or flashing lights. We do not charge a joining fee or an audition fee. We do ask that each member contributes £1 per rehearsal, (children 50p) which goes directly into paying for the rent of our rehearsal hall. Free teas, coffees, juice and biscuits are provided for the use of all. ![]()

What we are looking for
Whether you can act, dance, or sing, there are roles available,. both solo and chorus.
Lead characters need to be actors/ actresses, and willing to sing and dance, to a high grade. Supporting roles, may be only required to act, sing or dance. Chorus, involved group singing, group dancing, and the showgirls & showmen. Please note that the lead roles require the ability to sing and dance as well as act. You will be asked to audition in all disciplines that the roles you are interested in, require, and to attend rehearsals twice a week for the main show, as well as possibly attend extra dance or singing lessons which will be provided as required. Auditions are open to all, regardless of age and experience, what we do require is that you are reliable, a good timekeeper for rehearsals. Unusually for this show, we are looking for performers aged 7 and upwards for the childrens chorus, as opposed to simply adults, for dancing and singing. All children must be accompanied at rehearsals and shows by a parent or legal guardian. (free coffee is available, or you might consider being in the show yourself too!) |
Some examples to look at
A Youtube playlist on Vegas shows, etc:
PLAYLIST All principal roles require singing skills: In Zorro if auditioning for big parts you will be having to sing, and if you want to look at extra exercises, there's the lessons on https://www.youtube.com/user/SophieShear - they are pretty good for home practice. |
