Some of the Roman swords and shields and helmets arrived today for our theatre production of Ben Hur- and will be prepared for the show over the next little while.
Many thanks to funding from Tesco community fund via Groundwork. Getting reenactment gear wherever possible is brilliant for us with historical- set shows because it can add a brilliant dimension of realism to the show as well as an educational dimension for learning about historical aspects for both actors and audiences. #theatre #acting #actors #Romans #brixham #tescocommunityfund #benhur #devon #regionaltheatre #britishtheatre #actorslife #stageproduction A lovely local lady, Sally-Ann, whom we have worked with on and off for many years, is creating these beautiful one-of-a-kind hand crocheted throws for our fundraising. It helps with her health and she wants to help support our work too. Its enormously appreciated. We have the first four listed. More will be added as and when available.

The Torbay Lottery is a locally run lottery which supports verified local charities and non-profit / community organizations. You play from £1 (and can win up to £25,000! We have already had two winners of smaller prizes) and in turn this helps raise funds for us as well. We would (naturally) be enormously grateful if you would like to sign up to support our work, in creating exciting new theatre, and providing inclusive, exciting opportunities for local people of all demographics and backgrounds to get involved in theatre, to build experience in theatre towards or as part of careers in the arts, and work towards their Equity cards & Spotlight registrations if they need to. 100% of everything raised via Torbay Lottery goes directly into our work: hiring a room in a local community centre for rehearsals; costumes, props, insurances, printing posters and flyers to advertise the shows, developing free education packs for schools and audience members. Recently donated, a beautiful Chinese style dress with butterflies, and a pale gold dressing gown with butterflies
A great bit of driftwood on the beach that will be critical for making a specific prop for our theatre production of Ben Hur. Recycling is awesome & probably saved us about £10 (which is a lot to us!)! The realities of making theatre in the U.K. regions
#recycling #zerowaste #britishtheatre #equity An enormous thank you to Kim Taviner of Blue Pebble - Brixham- collected the funds from our fundraising book stand and over the last month or so, it raised £30- that’s the cost of three rehearsals at Chestnut Community Centre for our lovely team. Thank you so much to Kim and to everyone who donates books for the sale.
We recently relaunched our postage stamp appeal, and have been finding some absolutely wonderful support.
Collecting used stamps for our fundraising, sorting them, and selling them to collectors via our eBay shop is a small but steadily growing part of our fundraising. (If you are a stamp collector and want to check out what we currently have on offer, please visit the ebay shop tab in in our top menu.) We have found several wonderful private supporters, many of whom have stated that they will support this stamp fundraising in an ongoing manner (which is fabulous - we don't plan on stopping this, rather the opposite). As well as our private supporters, we would like to extend an enormous thank you to Janet of the Welsh-themed café Crafty Cwtch on Middle Street in Brixham who is now acting as a collection point for our stamp collecting, and to Mandy of the Brixham Mission Community Magazine, who are also helping us by appealing to the congregations of four local churches, to save used stamps for us. Of course, if you want to hand any stamps directly to us, please get in touch with us on [email protected] Thank you so much to everyone for your incredible support <3 It is help like yours which keeps our work of creating local theatre, and creative performance opportunities for people in the region, alive. All funds raised from these stamp sales, go towards hiring our rehearsal space at Chestnut Community Centre in Brixham (yes so then that money from our hire, benefits a local Brixham community centre in turn), buying second hand items to use/ remake as props and costumes, for insurances & other legal requirements.
