Dear Casts of both Ben Hur and Henry V;
Some more external work offers have come in. especially for you lovelies, (this time for Halloween scare actors). Please check the respective production facebook groups for more information and how to apply. This is fab stuff. Well done for being so awesome. Laura In addition to that, two of our team have also been asked to assist with the pirate fight choreography for a new short film being made in Brixham next week. This is one of the outcomes that we love - as well as producing our inhouse shows, we love it when external acting work comes in and is offered to the people currently working with us. Getting into professional freelance acting is a huge and thick glass ceiling especially down here in Torbay (its why we were founded in the first place, lol!) without drama schools and local agencies etc. Lots of productions come down, and lots of acting work looks further afield to bring people in, when in reality, there is a ton of fab talent right here. Seeing talented people get additional opportunities is one of the most rewarding things you can imagine. <3

Many thanks to all of our lovely helpers at our fundraising stand at the Brixham Pirate Festival - we raised invaluable funds for our productions :) Also many thanks to Judi for allowing us to use the space, and to the local Brixham Police, and festival security, for coming along and volunteering to be in our stocks :) A new "take" on showteam shows was trialled on Thursday. Some years back we had our Three Musketeers showteam, which is still something which can be resurrected. But in the meantime through a series of events - an afternoon of impromptu fight show between Laura and Anth, back in the summer, and then the fact that a number of our performers are Assassins Creed fans, the natural thing happened. And the Assassins Creed-theme showteam was born, we decided to put together a fight show for the final Brixham Buccaneers Pirate Thursdays. This is a charity, volunteer-run annual series of family friendly events - mainly pirate, but they often want different entertainment, and we work with them a lot. Lucius, Steve, Ray, Laura and Rich created the final performance. It went so well than we have been asked back for the Pirate Thursdays next summer! What a fantastic weekend, and many thanks to our team for assisting our fundraising stand at the Brixham Pirate Festival. We had three days of fundraising, and fun. Made lots of great new friends and raised a significant amount towards our fundraising We should also put out a great shout to the fantastic local police - two of whom went in our stocks, on Saturday afternoon to support our fundraising - for £1, for 5 sponges, people loved soaking the local Police, in the stocks..., It drew rather a large crowd. :) Later in the weekend, our founder, Laura, had a sponsored dunking in Brixham Harbour (yes among all the diesel and gunk) to raise funds for the team. Finally, we would love to give a shoutout to the lovely people who won the pirate teddies, in our Name The Teddy competitions The teddy winners are:
Male pirate Teddy - Blacknose The Pirate, won by Oliver Ambridge Female Pirate Teddy- Teddys name Rum Alice, won by Karyn Stabb Ships Cat - Teddys name: Jasper, won by Tom Ward |
