They are free for the people who have performed with us in the past 6 months in good standing (no disciplinary or attendance issues), or joined us for Robin of Sherwood. If you have not performed with us, we ask for a contribution of £5 per class, to cover venue hire. (please encourage new people to come, as that helps me pay the hire fees!) these will run 10.30am - 12.30pm, before main rehearsals. Free teas and coffees available.
Each session needs at least two people.
While these are stand-alone sessions, you are easily able to bring all that you have learned into other sessions.
These sessions will involve a lot of movement, roleplay, so wear comfies - and - Ladies: trousers or leggings please!
Oct 11th - Script Analysis and discovering your character
Oct 18th - Exploring body language on stage
Oct 25th - Characterisation and prep for Mordred promo (this is intended for those who are promoting Mordred, and other SDP projects at the Optimus film convention. If you are hoping to become involved in the full film / stage show next year, then you are welcome to sit in, to find out more about the characters and setting)
(Nov 1st is a break as many of us will be at Optimus,)
Nov 8th - Dynamics of a theatre team. (not sure why we bang on about teamwork, and what affects what, in the team).
Nov 15th - Improvisation. What happens if you miss your line - how do you stay in character, and keep your scene going, and roll back to the script smoothly? What happens if something unsuspected happens as it often does with interactive theatre - where you interact with the audience or a tech effect goes wrong? (this is not a substitute for learning your lines, but carries on smoothly from knowing your characterization!)
Nov 22nd - Stage combat (medieval/ dark ages, just basics for Robin of Sherwood, and Mordred. There will be much more advanced sessions for Mordred in the New Year) This one is for adults only.
